01 Overview

About the Project

BUSCARS is a digital automobile marketplace for the Uruguayan market, branded around ASCOMA, the country's car-dealer association. The platform lets dealers manage profiles, branches, and inventory listings on a subscription plan, and lets buyers search by make/model, filter on year/price/fuel/transmission/condition, compare vehicles side-by-side, and contact dealers via phone or WhatsApp. A pre-loaded car-model catalog (makes, types, fuel and transmission options) keeps listing data clean and consistent.

The Challenge

Uruguay's car market relied heavily on fragmented classifieds and in-person dealership visits, making it difficult for buyers to compare options and for dealers to reach their audience effectively. ASCOMA needed an MVP fast — to demonstrate viability and rally member dealers around a single platform — while still launching with the dealer profile, multi-branch, and listing-management features that real dealer workflows require. The platform needed to handle 7 vehicle categories (SUV, cabriolet, coupe, sedan, hatchback, pickup, truck), advanced search with brand/model filters, and a comparison tool — all while conveying trust through the ASCOMA partnership branding.

02 Solution

Our Approach

We started from a Next.js 14 app on Vercel and a Go backend built on PocketBase (SQLite), which gave us authentication, an admin UI, and a typed REST surface out of the box — letting us focus engineering effort on dealer workflows. We bulk-loaded a car-model catalog into PocketBase from an external dataset so dealers post listings against canonical models with pre-filled specs instead of free-text. Vehicle photos are stored in AWS S3. Buyers get search, filters, a side-by-side vehicle comparison tool, a loan calculator, and direct WhatsApp/phone contact with the dealer. The ASCOMA partnership is reinforced visually across the buying flow.
